2001 marked the 70th year of passenger service at Port Everglades. Since welcoming its first cruise ship in 1931, Port Everglades has grown to be one of the top three busiest cruise ports in the world with 3.6 million passengers annually. Serving as Greater Fort Lauderdale’s gateway to global cruise vacations, it has been recognized as the most convenient, friendly and efficient port more times than any other. In recent years we’ve won the prestigious Grand Prix Mondial du Voyage a total of eight times, including in 2001. In 2000, we were again named by Dream World Cruise Destinations as having the best turnaround port. Our goal is not to be the biggest or the most profitable port; it is simply to be the best at what we do.
